Poetry: Silent Thunder

Thunder in the distance shuttering the stone.

“I start counting seconds…”

In the distance lightning
flashed a second
all surrounding buildings, fields.

I start counting seconds,
it’s now a minute
and here is the thunder
trembling the foundations
of my home,
those foundations of my soul.

My heart starts pounding,
my feet are down the stairs,
following the increasing beat,
and public condemnation.

Under thunder, truths are lies,
and lies are holy words,
don’t dare to question words,
or question party, question plan,
just dumb down to the core
and accept the resolution
we have proposed.

While you sit and try to think,
let us help you here a bit.
