Poetry: Puzzle

A lost piece.

Poetry by Vladimir Fischer

Painting: Dawn, 1871. By Simeon Solomon. Shared by Birmingham Museums Trust

“And then I go…”

I dwell in memories sometimes
trying to construct the puzzle
but some pieces missing all the time
wrecking all the little gain I made.

It’s falling like a paper castle
on the empty, barren ground.

So I return to my eternal duty
constructing structures out of a concept
from the closet somewhere hidden deep within.

And then I go,
embark on a journey inland
to the places not often found
portrayed on photographs of old.

Emotion is invisible
can not document it,
my missing puzzle piece.
