Poetry: Night Pillar

Poetry by Vladimir Fischer

“The void is not to disappear…”

Stone pillar in the distance
faking marble and
shining backward at the sun,
poking at its eyes to no avail.

Bright light is always
radiant at night,
the time to start the carnival
of stars and broken string guitars.

The company of misfits
gathering around the pillar
spilling booze on soil
as a tribute to the guru Freud.

The void is not to disappear
but for now at least,
it ceased to grow,
and as you approach it
everything becomes so clear
that you just want it near.
